Description: This piece was a study with charcoal. Most of my paintings are sketched with charcoal before painting. This image is out of my head discovering the features as I sketched to capture the intensity of the black experience filled with both darkness and the intensity to persevere through it all. I was also experimenting with shadowing to create a dramatic effect. It's a one of kind piece outside my normal work. Black man.
