Created together, these twin works form a meditative exploration of ascent — both physical and internal. Untitled Climb I and Untitled Climb II are companion pieces that trace the layered journey of transformation, inspired by the artist’s experience summiting Mount Kilimanjaro. Each painting carries the quiet weight of that climb: the preparation, the darkness before the rise, the moments of doubt and revelation, and finally, the arrival in light.

The compositions unfold vertically, echoing the structure of the mountain itself. Rich with deep blues, smokey grays, and soft whites, the base of each work holds a grounded stillness — a space of introspection and challenge. As the eye ascends, colors begin to shift: copper warmth, layered textures, and iridescent gold emerge, representing the clarity, perspective, and radiance found at the summit.

The gold is not merely ornamental; it is symbolic — a reflection of arrival, of being held by sunlight at the peak after climbing through shadow. The use of iridescence invites movement and change, encouraging the viewer to return again and again, discovering something new in every light.

Though abstract, the works speak to a universal experience of growth. They ask us to reflect on what it means to move through difficulty, to reach toward something beyond, and to return changed. Together, Untitled Climb I & II honor the dualities of journey and stillness, effort and release, mystery and emergence.
